Saline Memorial Hospital receives recognition for heart attack care
June 2, 2022
BENTON, Ark. (June 2, 2022) – Saline Memorial Hospital has received the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2022.
Saline Memorial Hospital is one of only 85 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor. It recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients and signifies that it has reached an aggressive goal of treating these patients to standard levels of care as outlined by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
“It is an honor to award Saline Memorial Hospital with the Silver Performance Award for their valuable national leadership and dedication to meeting comprehensive performance measures in patient care,” said Michael C. Kontos, MD, FACC, chair of the NCDR Chest Pain – MI Registry Steering Subcommittee, and cardiologist at Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center. “The receipt of this award indicates that Saline Memorial Hospital remains committed to providing top quality, guideline-driven care for heart attack patients. Their success ensures patients are receiving the highest quality cardiovascular care.”
To receive the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry Silver Performance Achievement Award, Saline Memorial Hospital demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry for four consecutive quarters during 2021 on specific measures. Because quicker response times usually mean better outcomes for patients during cardiac events, some of the measures are based on timing, like how quickly treatment is received after the patient’s first interaction with medical staff. Other measurements are based on adhering to clinical guidelines for treatment.
The Chest Pain ̶ MI Registry empowers health care provider teams to consistently treat heart attack patients according to the most current, science-based guidelines and establishes a national standard for understanding and improving the quality, safety and outcomes of care provided for patients with coronary artery disease, specifically high-risk heart attack patients.
“Every hospital says that they provide high quality care to patients, but this achievement award validates that statement since it comes from an independent, expert source,” Saline Memorial’s CEO Michael Stewart said. “It confirms that we are following the correct processes and procedures to help ensure the best possible outcomes for patients, which contributes to the fulfillment of our mission of making our communities healthier.”
