Saline Memorial Hospital earns Grade A in patient safety from Leapfrog
November 15, 2024
On Friday, Nov. 15, The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety, recognized Saline Memorial Hospital as one of the nation’s top hospitals for patient safety with an “A” grade.
Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them. Saline Memorial Hospital earned the top grade, “A,” including earning the highest possible scores in categories like safe medication administration, prevention of infections in the urinary tract and effective leadership to prevent errors.
“This national recognition from Leapfrog is a testament to how dedicated our entire team is on delivering safe, compassionate care,” said Jeff Bourgeois, interim CEO. “We are so proud that our friends, family and neighbors here in Saline County and nearby communities can rely on us to deliver the highest quality of care, right here, close to home.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
Saline Memorial Hospital was one of only six hospitals in Arkansas that received an “A” grade this fall. Full details on the grading, as well as valuable tips for staying safe in the hospital, are available at HospitalSafetyGrade.org.
“Achieving an ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for Saline Memorial Hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to Saline Memorial Hospital, its leadership, clinicians, staff and volunteers for their tireless efforts to put patients first.”
